Module 4 Art Making / Material Exploration

1.  It brings me back to my Elementary days when we learned the basics of aspects of art and the scales.  This is important to know because it creates depth and creativity in works of art and allows one to be more imaginitive.

2.  The color wheel.  I find it more enjoyable to work with color because in my perpective it is more eye catching and imaganitive to work with.  I'd take have color any day in a piece that I make.

3.  The thing that I found most important from this section of studies was Issac Newton played a huge role in discovering the color whell through his experiments of science and finding the color spectrum.

4.  The most important thing that I discovered from watching the videos was that Red, Blue and Yellow are not the primary colors!  It was a lie!  They are now known as pre-historic.

Module 3 Color Theroy and emotiom principles

1.   Describe Color and it's effects on emotions.

Color comes in so many aspects from the primary colors of Red, Blue and Yellow.  Color is described through Intensity and its Hue.  Intensity in color is to describe its purity and strength.  By mixing a color like red and its color on the other side of the color wheel you will there for enhance its intensity.  Hue describes the wavelengths and properties by adding more black or white to the color.  These two elements allow color to be expressed in different ways that will inflict more creation and powerful streams of color to be expressed.

2.  What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?

For me it was learning more about intensity and hue and how those elements effect color in so many ways.  Its interesting to know the depths of colors and how little alterations can make such a difference.

3.  In the Color videos, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and it's effects on emotions?

The soccer test.  It was interesting to see the scientific results of how they found out that the color red actual increased a level in confidance in players wearing red.  Aswell as the research in the olympics in how fighters wearing red had an increase in win rate.  It deminstarted that not only in color an important aspect of art but also in life and how it effects us.

Module 2 Video and CNN Review

1.
Aesthetics:  Philosophy of the Arts
Concepts- The Key concepts that I learned while watching was the definition of the ancients version of Aesthetics.  Which was defined as "The study of the beauty of art".  Another key concept throughout was the evolution of art ranging from the time of Plato to the 80's.  They follow the concept of perception in art and how people and ones eye interpret art.

Concepts-  Throughout they take a more science approach as they interpret how scientifically art changes through the eras.  The eight laws of art.  A great example that really made interpretation way the buffer fly example of how you can paint or create many different pieces and someone will always find one that they like.  We are Genetically modified to see and like different aspects and kinds of art.

What the brain draws from: Art and neuroscience/ CNN article

Concepts-  Our perception can make of break our liking to a piece of art.  Different methods of making art like faces, lines and shadows shoe different but our minds still finding a liking to them.

2.
I feel that Ramachandran's  view was most important.  Because in more of a modern and reliable way he explained in the 8 laws of art.  These laws set art on a basis of how to analyze different art forms.  By setting "laws" for making and respecting art anyone can understand how a piece fits and what the message is.  He explained that he sees art as a universal aesthetic which means that many people see art in different ways hence "universal".  Having a set of laws and a universal standard for seeing art we can all make sense of it instead of calling something bad and not liking the piece.

3.
I think that Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art was very interesting.  To dig deep in a science aspect and see how the human actually grew to create art in so fascinating.  I think the most interesting fact that I learned is that through our evolution we built skills that allowed man-kind to create more and more different creations because of our intelligence increase and society.  It was cool to learn how everything came to tie together.

4.
They relate to the readings in an aspect of how aesthetics can be be seen it different ways.  we saw in the videos that all philosophers saw and defined aesthetics in different ways.

5.
I was actually very interesting in the video with Changeux and Ramachandran.  It was very cool to see that evolution played such a major part in art history, the science aspect really enlightened and built the image of how we see different kinds of art.
