Module 10 Mask Making

1. Upload the three (3) inspiration images to your Blog (or link to your Photobucket account). Explain why you selected the inspiration pieces.
They all represent a longer face with just a front ward facing face and I wanted to do something very different from that so by taking the basics as inspiration led me to make something more unusual.

2. Include the analysis and description (art criticism steps) of the three (3) inspiration pieces.

They are more older dated masks with a basic style to them.  They were made from wood and clay with some straw and hay all being elements from their environments.

3. Upload images of your sketches and finished piece.

done.

4. Explain how you used the Elements and Principles in your finished mask.

I wanted my pieces to be a mask like representation but at the same time different from anything that I saw.  In efforts to do so I made the masks open in two of my drawings.

5. Share your opinion of your finished mask and what you thought about creating the mask.

I thought that it was very interesting to do something different and see what could have been an actual mask in history.  This was a great way to engage the student in the learning.

Moduale 10 Video Review

Buddhism and Hinduism

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

Because in high school we learned a lot in my history classes about these religions.  I have  good background knowledge about these topics in art and history.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

Buddhism:  Bodh Gaya is the site of 3 Religions but most importantly where buddhism developed.  The Great Stupa Sanchi shows great symbolism towards Buddhism and enlightenment.  All over the world relics of Buddhism lay and are represented upon.

Hinduism:  The cities of Varanasi, Mamallapuram and Khajuraho all represent the religions architectural influence.  Cave art can be found in old Hindu temples.  The Religion supports many different gods that all serve a certain purpose.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

Compared to the readings the go over a lot about the religions history ad how their whole way of life in India is shaped because of the religions and around the world.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I feel that the videos expanded my knowledge as they showed the temples and city life examples.  It gave me a better look at how life shaped out to be because of their histories

Module 9 Video Review

The Drawings of Michelangelo

and
Power of Art: 1 Caravaggio

1.  I selected the video"The Drawings of Michelangelo" because in middle school I remember doing a project on him and learming about his life.  I choose "Power of Art: 1 Caravaggio" because I have heard about his story and wanted to learn more about him.

2.  The concepts of Caravaggio include him trying to paint his way out of trouble for countless acts of sinning.  He traveled to room to expand his painting career. He  painted a painting of mass controversy. Michelangelo grew up learning to draw from his taecher and moved drawings to paintings.  He taight himself how to sculpt.  He encased the idea of classical sculpting and painting.

3.  In relation to the readings they talk alot about the artists history and how they got there mass fame in their time.

4.  It was very interesting in a sense too learn that artists history.  In Caravaggios story he went through thick and thin to get to where he was.  Ans in Caravaggios case he went through so much troubles to get where he stood to shape the art community and history inself.

Moduale 8 Video review

More Human than Human

2.  Pieces of art reflect and display our past.  Because of art we can see how people lives in certain ages and solve mtsyeries and discoveres of our past.  Culture is Key!

3.  like in the text it explains the ancient ruins and past in Egypt and how culture was shaped in such age.  And because of art it is possiable for us to now see how the sncient world worked and functioned.

4.  I thought that it was very interesting to see how much art has not only made an impact on society today but also on how we were able to find our past.

Art and Life in the Middle ages

1.  Because I've always liked learning about ancient history.  I also wanted to see what kind of impact that art had in such time.

2. Through art we found that society was in shambles because of disease by the name of the black plague, paintings of death in the streets of civilizations displayed how hard the times were.  In cathedrals, paintings told stories.  History was made more visual because of art.

3.  In the text like the last video aswell they talk of how history in a sense became more visual to many historians.  They discovered that art relics provided alot of information about how life was back then.

4.  I thought that the video was very informative.  It added depth by many more sinarious in which art provided infortmation that showed us more of our past.

Module 7 Video review

Frank Lloyd Wright

1.  Frank placed nature at the center of attention.  His vision was to create a new style of how we viewed architecture in America.  Democracy was a huge inspiration to American architecture.  His inspiration was from what his dad had tought him.

2.  In relation to text Frank talks about his idea of having a different form throughout his creations.  It is that the element of form shaped how he altered different aspect of the houses he created like lower ceilings and differently orentated walls.

Last Call from Planet Earth

1.  Sustaniability.  Climate change.  The awarness of how we imapct our would.  Creating more eco-friendly buildings.  Taking action to help our planet become healthier in such aspect of cahnging our ways and building structures.

2.  This relates heavily with the elements because in this way many want to create buildings that are benificial to our planet on preserving it.  In less than an art aspect they are looking for a more suitable way that aspects of a building will be a benifit ti the earth such as location and other aspects.

3.  I really enjoyed watching the videos.  I thought that they really captivated how and why certain architechture is how it is.  From explaining why Frank made such creations to why such buildings look like they are emerged in plants, the reasons were all explained.

4.  I choose to watch Frank Lloyd Wright because I actually have been to "Falling Water" and "The Martin House".  They were so amazing in being just so different from our modern ways.  For the time that they were built they both matched so well to how our architechture is shaped today.  And I choose Last Call from Planet Earth because I would love to actually go into an environmental science feild.  Sustaniablity and Architechture cross paths in this video and really gave me the feel of a path in my feild of study.
